This just up on the Deschutes Brewery website. I had a small hand in designing the Jubelale packaging and label this year. The artwork was done by Andrew Sewell, but I got to design, draw and paint the Jubelale type, as well as quite a bit of the rest of the design. First pint pours Thursday!

Just added new artwork to the site. The original artwork is in the Illustration section and the finished design is in Client Work. Thanks to everyone for the great response to the postcards. There's still a few left, so drop me a line if you'd like one.

Jen and I got to take our first backpacking trip of the summer last weekend. We decided to check out a seldom used trail in the Waldo Lake Wilderness area south of Bend in the Cascade Lakes area. It had all the makings of a disasterous trip: rain, washed out trails, bone-jarring washboard and boulder strewn approach road, and realizing that half of the hike was through a large area known as the Taylor Burn, which as the name implies, was pretty cooked. But it ended up being a great trip, with good company, a beautiful morning, plenty of huckleberries and wildlife, and some nice cold beers waiting for us back at the car. We stayed at a lake called Upper Eddeeleo, and woke up to elk bugling across the valley.

On another happy note, the first snow of the season greeted us on the drive back to town.

Postcards are now being sent out. Send me an email if you would like to be on my mailing list. Sorry for the lack of updates, it's been pretty crazy out here. The work has just been pouring in. Absolutely stoked about that. Been working on some really fun projects. To name a few: beer labels for Deschutes Brewery, tee illustrations (Adidas, Jimmy'Z), ads for Nike, an illustrated children's mag, and of course, some screenprinted postcards.

Haven't left the house too much, but we did manage to take a weekend trip down south a couple of weeks ago to attend my cousin Katie's wedding. Jen and I camped on the Umpqua the night before and the night of, meeting up with a couple friends of ours for some steelhead fishing. Caught my first Umpqua steelhead that morning, and it was just a fine day through and through. The wedding was at my Grandpa Paul's property down in Sitkum, a beautiful lodge on it's own lake. Jen and I enjoyed the festivities thoroughly. Congrats to Katie and Ty, you crazy kids.

Managed to squeeze in another trip last week. Floated the lower Deschutes from Mack's Canyon to the mouth with a couple of rascals. Three days of pure bliss, although the fishing was crap. Beautiful stretch of water, especially if you hit it when the power boats have to take a few days off.

I've got enought work to keep me scrambling around for the next few weeks, so no trips planned, just gettin er done.

Lastly, I'd like to send a shoutout to Mr. Louis Carlton. Finished his deck. Finally. I'm sure it's a beauty. I seem to recall another wood project of his that was close to being finished... but I must say it escapes me.

September is my favorite month of summer. Jen and I are going to take a much needed camping trip at some point, and I imagine there will be some time spent on the river as well. Ahh, plenty to look forward to.

Until then.
