My mom just finished five weeks of trekking around Nepal. She sent me a photo this morning and I just had to put it up here. Sitting at 18,000' + with Lhotse and Everest right over her shoulder. Absolutely stunning.

In other family news, my folks just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary and my sister and I put together a little shindig out at the family hacienda in Camp Sherman. Sara planned the whole thing from her desk in Iceland, and she did a fine job considering she was on the other side of the world. It was a fine turnout, with good times had by all. Congratulations to my folks, they're one of a kind.

Here's a couple of highlights:

Just finished and shipped my skateboard painting up to Andrew Kemmis of the Missoula Skatepark Association. The good folks at the MSA put together an art auction annually to raise money for construction and maintenance costs for the new park in Missoula built by Grindline.

All boards should be available for bidding soon.

In other news, my epic project of the last few months is slowly nearing completion. Bit off a lot with this one, but our kitchen/dining room/bathroom/living room/office remodel is nearing final stages. I can't wait to have my studio back!

My lovely wife contracted me a while back to design some belt buckles for Rebound Physical Therapy, and here's what the finished product looks like:

I'm happy to report that I got to check off one of my life goals last year. I just saw the 2008 Gnu Carbon High Beam at backcountry.com, and I guess it's ok to show some pictures of it now. Here's some details of the topsheet and base:

My how the summer flys by. Still making headway on the kitchen, and things are coming together slowly. Choosing tile, fixtures, and sheetrocking away. We've still got a very small functional area of kitchen, but that should be torn out completely within the next week.

Go time.

The first annual Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure surf contest was just held down at the Huntington Beach Pier. Contest winner Adam Wickwire took home the prize money and a new painting. Here's a shot with a fitting backdrop. Contest photos provided by Nemo.

The kind folks over at HelloNekko granted me my first inter-net-view. Check it out here.

Jen just completed her first Endurance Duathalon. 56 miles of biking followed by 13.1 miles of running. Needless to say, we are all blown away by her current level of fitness. So proud!

Current remodeling projects continue. Much to do still, but progress being made daily.

New ads for Nike 6.0 are on the shelves. I'll try to get some photos on here as soon as I can find them.

Finished this painting last weekend for a friend. This is a companion piece for this painting.

Dust, bent nails, questionable building materials, copper pipe, dryrot, and demolition are a big part of our life right now. The great kitchen/dining/laundry/utility/living/family room remodel is now underway. Much to do as we tear out the old and bring in the new. Plans include new flooring throughout most of the house, a hefty new stainless utility sink, recessed cabinets in the dining nook, new cabinets and appliances throughout the kitchen, and a bit of a facelift to my studio. One day at a time... Full project writeup to come soon in the projects section.

In other news:

Many many unrelated projects being started, pondered, sketched, reworked, rejected, rethought, and occasionally completed. Lots to do right now. Much in the works.

We've got Hot Pow tees! Printed on American Apparel blanks in Mint and Natural Organic. Water based inks and two sweet colorways. These are a very limited edition print (less than 100), so get em while they're hot! Best place right now is from the good folks over at JoyEngine in Denver. I'm working on getting a store up on the site, and I'll have them here soon as well, along with a few other goodies. Many thanks to Pe from FatChen for making it all happen.

I've just about compiled all the recent work for nike and will be updating the site shortly. Until then, here's some links to a few of the commercials that NEMO built around the recent Nike 6.0 illustrations.

This buzz in from Pe at FatChen in Denver. The good folks at JoyEngine did a little write up on the process used to create the Vertigo ads. Look to the entry for 2.22.2007

Time to pull out the plaid suit and cheap cigar. Six fine years we had with her... but the time has come. We're replacing the suby. To anyone interested, here she is on Craigslist.

I'm a little late with this one, but here's the piece I put in the Wurstminster Dog Show. An ode to our old man Evad. He just turned 11 at the beginning of February and is about due for a family portrait. There were some tremendous pieces in the show and it was a pleasure to behold them all at once.

I just got back from a week of snowboarding in Idaho and Washington, so stay tuned for some photos. I successfully negotiated the lottery for the Legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom for the first time and it was quite an experience. We got slammed with some less than pleasant weather, but one day of clear skies and a little bit of fresh snow made it all worthwhile.

Just got back from nine days of pure bliss in sunny Jamaica. Arrived in Seattle to frigid weather and snow on the ground, and soon after to lots of new projects. Good stuff. I like the sun, but I like the cold just fine too.

If you're in Portland on the 3rd of February, stop by the new Ace Hotel to check out the Wurstminster Dog Show. There are around 100 artists that submitted a piece for the show, myself included, and it looks to be a good time. click on the flyer for a larger version.
